So who's awesome today?

Well it's official... Britain can't handle snow! This cold snap is still wreaking havock across the country. So with our studio time cancelled (citing the snow as the reason) I decided to update the much neglected band blog.

So who's awesome today? Well Incubus of course!

These Californian alt. rockers have been blowing my mind for far too long not to give them a mention. What I admire most about them is how they've changed and progressed over time in a mature and artistic way. Gone are the hyper energetic, off the wall, funk-rock stylings of Fungus Amongus and Enjoy Incubus and in it's place is a less chaotic and clever sound. Granted 'Light Grenades' (I.M.O.) wasn't as good as 'A Crow Left of the Murder' but that's probably because I liked every track from the latter (As it happens I'm yet to listen to 'Monuments and Melodies'). Whether or not you agree. It is definately checking out their stuff from early to contemporary.

P.s. I've got so bored of building snowmen that I'm now resorting to building giant phalic objects...

Boxing Day Gig / So who's Awesome Today?

Well I'm pleased to say that the boxing day gig was pretty damn awesome. The attendance was very good and with Emilie Cheshire playing the best acoustic set I've seen in ages (with people singing loudly along to the likes of American Pie). And not forgetting to mention DJ Turkish who got everybody dancing with his hard hitting brand of electronica. Random Perception went down really well too. Although the several pint glasses were totally annihilated in the mosh pits (but I suppose that is the sign of a good show!). The audience particularly like Killing in the Name of (This years Christmas number one) and Gaybar by Electric 6 (congrats to Rhodri Pugh-Dungey for winning the gayest dance competition and a pint!).

Anyways well who's awesome today? To be fair I think Emilie Cheshire has it! Here's a video of her playing at the gig (Sorry it's not wonderfully clear!).

Anyways in other news we're going to be working on our new single 'Big Brother' on Wednesday with any luck! :D

Have a Random Christmas

Okay so with the 25th fast approaching we'd like to wish everyone a very random Christmas! And of course we'd like to thank everyone who has supported us over this last year (it's been filled with both ups and downs...mostly ups though :D)

And whilst you're thinking about what good ol' saint Nick is leaving behind when he comes down the Chimney...we'd like to let you know that the best present for us is a booking in the new year! Even if it is in your lounge with just you and your mum listening!

Now to break the never ending monotony of rubbish christmas songs here are a couple of good ones. :O

Biography - Josh Keeling

Keeling is the only member of Random Perception who has joined the band twice. He first came to Pembrokeshire after moving from Stoke however when he arrived in his new home he found himself between bands for some time. Whilst jamming with various musicians to find a band to call his own he came across Steve and Ger and played a couple of sessions with them. Sadly at the time there was no vacancy for him at the time and so they couldn't continue playing together. Some months later Josh got a call from Steve asking if he played bass. Keeling being a couple of different instruments (bass happening to be one of them) then decided to temporarily fill the big shoes of Matthew Cummings, who'd left to focus on his business (every bodies got to earn a living!).
Keeling eventually stopped playing bass for Random Perception and slot was later filled by Cai Martlew (who in as it happens knew him from other bands they'd worked in together).

The second time Keeling was invited in was to fill his current role of playing drums. After professional differences caused complications between the other band members and Chris Clarke they had to part ways. After a lot of discussion between Steve, Ger and Cai they decided to get in touch and audition him with the idea of trying out others, but as it happened Josh immediately clicked very well and so he was asked to play.
